About the Work

Over the past several years Marin has worked in different styles and subject matter informed by art history. Her medium is mostly acrylic paint; she often adds collage as memory layers. In her recent show titled “Transience”, she presented seven Wall Painting Installations accompanied with a video that leads the viewer to look at the painting groupings with a new sense of movement and rhythm. The phasing in and out of existence of the images is like the cycle of life in nature, the cycle of doing and undoing of the non-verbal abstract surface process. The “Transience” show is a departure, a “transition.” The video creates a new situation, a reassessment of her past figurative work leading toward abstraction.

Marin's March 2018 new abstract painting exhibition, titled "Dependent Fragments" is about the entwinement of a personal vision and the cultural dynamics of our era's discontinuous thinking. Her painting process addresses this balancing act through the use of fragmentation and color relationships
